Campground searches (online, not print)

Campground listings. Many of these sites will let you search by state, but notice that the campgrounds are often limited to paying members only.

Recreation.gov - Recreational opportunities on Federal lands. This is the one resource to all the US Government public lands - National Parks, National Forests, National Wildlife Refuges, Bureau of Land Management, US Army Corps of Engineers, Tennessee Valley Authority, Bureau of Reclamation. Search by state, or by type of facilities you want. Pictures, facts, maps, weather conditions. This site is a must-read!

Trailer Life Campground Directory. You need to go through a free registration process the first time, but after that you can view all the same listings as are printed in the Trailer Life Campground Directory. You can limit your search to only private - or only public campgrounds, and by state and by city (it will include those in a radius of that city). Click on any park for a very detailed listing, the same detail you would get in their printed directory, including rates. This is an excellent resource! Once you use this free online search, you
'll probably want to buy the directory, available in print or CD-ROM.

Woodall
's Campground Directory - electronic version of the printed directory. Search for a campground with the amenities you need.

Camping-USA! National Campground Directory. I was really impressed by this FREE site! They display a USA map. You point to a spot on the map and click, and you get a list of all the campgrounds within about a 50-mile radius - public, state, federal, and private. Or you can search by city and state name. And for most campgrounds, you get the name, address, phone number, # of sites, driving directions (how to get there), and attractions - swim pool, lake, etc. Warning - the one thing they do NOT tell you is that some of these parks are for tents only, no RVs; and others are for members of the military only. It
's great, just be sure to telephone first!

About.com - State by state camping destinations. Guide to state parks, national parks and forests, campground directories, and campground web sites.

Campground search from RVing.com - This one works very well. Search by state and by city, results appear to be commercial campgrounds only. Click on a particular campground and get LOTS of information about that campground.

CampUSA. Search by city and state, and you get a list of some of the private campgrounds. This one even has symbols showing the amenities.

Go Camping America. Search for a private campground by city or state. The listings are very detailed, showing number of sites, type of hookups, amperage.
